Information Systems Management

Planned and managed a migration of over 100 users from Windows 3.x to Windows 95. Deployed, administered and supported several hundred Windows NT Workstations in an integrated NT Server/Novell Netware environment. Planned and implemented a multi-server upgrade from Novell Netware 3.12 to Novell Netware 4.10 and NDS. Migrated over 200 Macintosh users from Sun's UNIX AFP to Novell Netware 3.12 running Netware for Macintosh. Administered Novell Netware and cc:Mail electronic mail systems on a growing multi-server Novell Netware 3.x network. Installed, evaluated, tested and configured networked software applications. Designed, implemented and documented comprehensive network backup and disaster recovery procedures.

Local and Wide Area Network Systems
Designed and installed Windows NT and Novell server LAN systems using Ethernet 10BaseT, Token Ring and FDDI topologies. Configured Compaq, Dell and HP network servers running Novell Netware or Windows NT Server. Interconnected multiple LAN sites via ISDN, 56KB leased and T-1 lines with TCP/IP, IPX and AppleTalk. Monitored and evaluated network performance using HP's OpenView for Windows. Computer network and system operator on large IBM MVS/XA and VM/CMS installation. Monitored IBM Token Ring and SNA/VTAM/NCP/TCPIP networks using IBM's Netview 6000. Installed and maintained Token Ring and 3270 coaxial cabling in LAN closets and at user workstations. Converted 400+ offices from coax and UTP to shielded twisted-pair cable for the expanding LAN.

Technology Training
Provides instructor-led training for IBM, Novell's CNE/CNA and Microsoft's MCSE curriculums. Classroom presentations include: TCP/IP Networking, Windows NT Workstation and Server Administration, Windows 95 Administration, Technical Support for Microsoft Windows, Technical Support for Novell Netware, Data Communications/Networking Technologies, Administration for Novell Netware 3.x/4.x, Advanced Administration for Novell Netware 3.x/4.x, Novell Netware & Macintosh Integration, CTIA A+ Certification and Personal Computer Service and Support.

Helpdesk and Desktop Support
Provided helpdesk and desktop support services to over 300 Windows NT and Windows for Workgroups users of Bell Atlantic's Billing/Customer Contact Organization LAN in Arlington, Va. Employed as a help desk hotline/network operator for a large real estate on-line database (Multiple Listing Service) for the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors. Assisted users (with varying ranges of computer knowledge) with PC hardware/software problems. Provided instruction on use of systems and applications.
